U4GM POE 2: How to Build an S-Tier Minion Witch

The early campaign is pretty simple, which is a big part of the appeal.

There's a reason Minion Witch keeps pulling people back in Path of Exile 2. It feels safe at first, sure, but the stronger versions don't just hide behind skeletons. This setup plays more like a storm caster with an army attached. You curse, reposition, expose enemies, and let your minions punish everything that gets caught in the mess. It's also a solid choice if you care about steady mapping and farming POE 2 Currency without gambling your whole build on one expensive item or awkward mechanic.

Levelling Without the Usual Minion Slump

The early campaign is pretty simple, which is a big part of the appeal. Flame Wall gives you clean damage while Skeletal Snipers handle targets from range. You're not waiting around for minions to slowly poke things down. You're helping them clear. Once Raging Spirits come in, the build starts to feel much faster. They fill the screen, hit hard for that stage, and cover the gaps before your permanent army is ready. By the time you reach the first major transition point, you've already got the rhythm down: cast, move, curse, let the pack collapse.

The Army Starts to Matter

Mid game is where the build gets its real identity. The Favored Zealot with the Spark-style setup is the standout piece, throwing lightning across packs and scaling nicely with your debuffs. Skeletal Clerics keep the group standing, which matters more than people think when fights drag on. Storm Mages add shock, Brutes bring intimidation, and Frost Mages give you a bit of breathing room with defensive utility. None of these minions feel random. Each one covers a job. That's what makes the build feel less like a pile of summons and more like a small warband you're actually leading.

Defence, Passives, and Gear Priorities

You'll still get hit, so the character needs proper layers. Energy Shield is the backbone. Block chance helps smooth out nasty spikes, and recovery keeps you from panicking every time a rare monster gets close. On the passive tree, it's worth fixing attributes early, then grabbing minion clusters such as Growing Swarm and Restless Dead. Later, push harder into Energy Shield, recovery, aura effect, and minion speed or damage through stronger clusters like Relentless Fallen and Profane Commander. Gear follows the same logic. Cap resistances first, then chase minion skill levels, spirit, Energy Shield, block, and useful minion damage stats.

How It Plays in Maps and Boss Fights

Against bosses, don't just stand still and hope the skeletons solve it. Open with curses, apply exposure, refresh your offering or buffs, then trigger minion burst tools when the boss is vulnerable. In maps, keep moving and let your army roll ahead of you. Strongboxes, Essence, Harvest, Delirium, and boss-focused Atlas choices all fit well because the build likes dense fights and repeatable rewards. If you want a Witch that feels active instead of sleepy, this one hits that mark, and it can farm POE2 Currency while staying tough enough for rougher endgame content.
